Introductory Meeting Agenda

New Life Rehearsal Band

1. What is NLRB?

   • Motivation:
     • Main band is focussed on maximizing performance assuming experienced musicians. Not good right now at growing intermediate musicians.
     • Music is given on short notice.
     • Music selection changes.
     • Lots of songs you need to already know.
   • Purpose: high quality through preparation.
     • Material in advance.
     • Material is correct and vetted.
     • Material doesn't change.
     • Make personal practice possible and useful so that corporate practice is effective and efficient.

2. Band Structure

   • Play at least one a month.

3. Practice Commitments

   • 2 hours a week personal practice.
     You should be listening to the songs on your own and practicing your part.

   • Biweekly practices for 1.5 hr.

4. Initial Songs

   • Defend Us (Jessica DiGiovanni)
   • Holy Spirit (Kari Jobe)
   • Blessed Be Your Name

5. First practice overview

   • 30 minutes discussing philosophy and approach.
   • 20 min per song
   • About 10 minutes listening to the song.
   • 10 minutes going through the major parts.

6. Feedback

   • When do we want to practice? Tuesdays from 7-8:30pm?
